Split adjuvant technique
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011236
A guinea pig assay for the skin-sensitizing potential of a chemical, in which the test substance is applied repeatedly to the skin while complete Freund's adjuvant is injected intradermally at a separate site, so the adjuvant boosts the immune response without being mixed with the chemical. After a rest period the animals are challenged on the skin, and reactions such as redness and swelling are scored against control animals.
