Guinea pig maximization test
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005059
A standard animal test used to assess the potential of a substance to cause skin sensitization, an allergic reaction. Guinea pigs are exposed to the test substance, often with an adjuvant, to induce an immune response. The subsequent challenge exposure determines if a delayed-type hypersensitivity reaction occurs, indicating sensitization.
