Exon
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004216
A segment of a eukaryotic gene that codes for a portion of the final messenger RNA (mRNA) molecule and is ultimately translated into a protein. Exons are separated by non-coding regions called introns, which are removed during RNA splicing. The arrangement of exons determines the protein sequence.
