Quotient method

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009789

A risk assessment approach used in ecotoxicology to evaluate the potential hazard of a contaminant to an ecosystem. It involves calculating a hazard quotient by dividing the predicted environmental concentration (PEC) of a substance by its predicted no-effect concentration (PNEC). A hazard quotient greater than one suggests a potential risk to the environment.
