Radiation sensitiser
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009828
A chemical compound that increases the sensitivity of a system to the effects of ionizing radiation. This substance acts by enhancing the formation of reactive intermediates or by inhibiting the repair of radiation-induced damage. For example, oxygen can act as a radiation sensitiser in biological systems, increasing the effectiveness of radiotherapy.
