Retention time of an unretained compound

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010292

The time it takes for a compound that does not interact with the stationary phase to pass through a chromatographic column. This value, also known as the mobile phase holdup time or dead time, represents the time the mobile phase itself spends in the column. It is used to calculate adjusted retention times and retention factors.
