Adjusted retention time

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000258

The time a solute spends in the stationary phase of a chromatographic system, calculated by subtracting the hold-up time from the observed retention time. This value represents the true interaction of the analyte with the stationary phase, independent of the time spent in the mobile phase. It is a more accurate measure for comparing the retention behavior of different compounds or chromatographic systems.
