Retrosynthesis
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010308
A problem-solving technique in organic chemistry used to design synthetic routes for complex molecules by working backward from the target molecule to simpler, readily available starting materials. It involves breaking down the target molecule into smaller fragments through a series of imaginary disconnections. Each disconnection corresponds to a known synthetic reaction performed in reverse.
