Backscattering energy
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001085
The kinetic energy of a particle (e.g., an electron or ion) that has been scattered backward from a target material after interacting with its atoms. This energy is typically less than or equal to the initial energy of the incident particle, with the energy loss depending on the scattering angle and the mass of the target atoms. It is a key parameter in techniques like Rutherford backscattering spectrometry.
