Backscattering fraction
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001086
The ratio, in Auger electron spectroscopy, of the Auger current produced by ionizations due to electrons scattered back into the sample to the Auger current produced directly by the primary electrons. It measures the extra ionization contributed by backscattered electrons in the near-surface region. It equals the backscattering correction factor minus one.
