Revolutions per minute
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010331
A unit of rotational frequency, representing the number of full rotations a body completes around a fixed axis in one minute. In clinical chemistry, it is used to specify the operational speed of centrifuges for separating components of biological samples like blood. The relative centrifugal force (RCF), expressed in multiples of gravity (g), is derived from the rotational speed and the centrifuge's rotor radius.
