Reversing heat flow

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010330

A component of the total heat flow in modulated-temperature DSC that follows the temperature modulation, calculated from the amplitude of the heat-flow response relative to that of the modulated heating rate. It reflects the heat capacity of the sample and shows the step of the glass transition. The remainder, the non-reversing heat flow, holds kinetic events such as cold crystallization, curing, evaporation and enthalpy relaxation, and reversing should not be confused with reversible.
