Non-reversing heat flow
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008048
The portion of the heat flow measured by modulated-temperature DSC that does not follow the imposed temperature oscillation, so it is out of phase with it. It carries kinetic events such as crystallization, enthalpy relaxation near the glass transition, evaporation and curing reactions, whereas the in-phase reversing component carries the heat capacity contribution. Despite its name, non-reversing is not a synonym for irreversible.
