Rinse solvent

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010367

A weak solvent passed through a sorbent in solid-phase extraction after the sample has been loaded, so that matrix components are displaced while the target analytes stay retained. It is chosen to be too weak to elute the analytes, and a stronger elution solvent is applied afterwards to recover them. On reversed-phase sorbents it is often water or water with a small fraction of organic solvent.
