Satellite groups
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010522
Small, additional groups of animals included in a toxicity study alongside the main control and treatment groups. These groups are used for specific assessments, such as collecting blood samples for toxicokinetic analysis or examining tissues at intermediate time points, without disturbing the main study population. A common application is in recovery studies, where satellite animals are observed after the cessation of treatment to determine if observed toxic effects are reversible.
