Photoelectron X-ray satellite peaks
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008861
Weak photoelectron peaks in an XPS spectrum produced when minor characteristic lines of the X-ray anode, such as the Kalpha3 and Kalpha4 lines of a magnesium or aluminium source, also excite photoemission. Each main peak is therefore accompanied by small replicas roughly 8 to 12 eV lower in binding energy. A monochromator removes them.
