Photoemission
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008865
The emission of electrons from a material when it absorbs electromagnetic radiation, such as light or X-rays. This phenomenon occurs when the energy of the incident photons exceeds the work function of the material. It is the fundamental principle behind techniques like X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy.
