Scan cycle time

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010545

The total duration required for a mass spectrometer to acquire a complete mass spectrum over a defined mass-to-charge ratio range. This period includes the time for ion detection, data acquisition, and any necessary instrument resets. A typical scan cycle time for a quadrupole mass spectrometer might range from milliseconds to several seconds.
