Selenocyanates
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010694
Organic compounds containing the -SeCN functional group, where a selenium atom is bonded to an organic group and to a cyanide group. These compounds are selenium analogues of thiocyanates and can exist as isomers, selenocyanates (R-Se-C≡N) and isoselenocyanates (R-N=C=Se). They are often prepared by the reaction of alkyl halides with potassium selenocyanate.
