Seminal vesicle
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013543
A pair of glands in male mammals that secrete a fluid component of semen. This fluid is rich in fructose, which provides energy for spermatozoa, and also contains prostaglandins and clotting factors. The seminal vesicles contribute a substantial volume to the ejaculate, typically around 60-70% of the total fluid.
