Smog index

A numerical value that quantifies the severity of air pollution, particularly photochemical smog, in a given area. It is derived from measurements of key atmospheric pollutants, such as ozone, nitrogen oxides, and particulate matter. This index provides a public health warning and guidance on air quality.
