Spectral effectiveness

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011125

The relative ability of different wavelengths of light to induce a specific photochemical or photobiological response. It is determined by measuring the magnitude of the effect as a function of the incident light's wavelength. This concept is often expressed as an action spectrum, which plots the efficiency of the radiation in producing a response against the wavelength.
