Sulfoxides
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011570
Organic compounds containing a sulfinyl functional group (R-S(O)-R'), where the sulfur atom is double-bonded to one oxygen atom and single-bonded to two organic substituents. The sulfur atom in a sulfoxide is chiral if the two organic groups are different. Dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) is a widely used solvent.
