Superlattice
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011603
A periodic arrangement of atoms or molecules in a material that has a larger periodicity than the underlying crystal lattice. It can be formed by ordering of different atomic species, by periodic structural distortions, or by the growth of alternating thin layers of different materials. Superlattices exhibit unique electronic and optical properties due to their modulated structure.
