Superjacent orbital
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013617
The molecular orbital lying immediately above the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital in energy, that is, the second lowest unoccupied orbital, abbreviated SLUMO. It pairs with the subjacent orbital, the second highest occupied orbital just below the HOMO. Both are considered in frontier orbital analysis when the HOMO and LUMO alone do not account for an interaction.
