Energy of the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003928

The energy level of the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) in a molecule, representing the orbital that is most likely to accept an electron. This energy is related to the electron affinity of the molecule. A lower LUMO energy indicates a greater tendency for the molecule to accept electrons in chemical reactions.
