Surfmer

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011684

A monomer molecule that possesses surface-active properties, meaning it can reduce the surface tension of a liquid. These monomers typically contain both a polymerizable group and a hydrophilic or hydrophobic moiety. Surfmers are used in emulsion polymerization to stabilize droplets and incorporate surface activity directly into the polymer chain.
