Thermal bleaching

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011931

The process by which color centers or other light-absorbing species in a material lose their color upon heating. This occurs due to the thermal energy providing sufficient activation energy for the trapped electrons or holes to recombine or migrate. The temperature at which bleaching occurs can provide information about the stability of the color centers.
