Water maze test

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012645

A behavioral test of spatial learning and memory in rodents. A mouse or rat is released into a circular pool of opaque water and has to find a submerged platform hidden from view, using cues in the room to remember where it is. The time taken to reach the platform and the path followed across repeated trials are recorded, and a later trial with the platform removed shows how long the animal searches the former location.
