IPX

A network layer protocol, part of the Internetwork Packet Exchange/Sequenced Packet Exchange (IPX/SPX) suite, used primarily in Novell NetWare environments. It is responsible for routing packets from a source to a destination across a network, providing a connectionless datagram service similar to the Internet Protocol (IP). IPX addressing uses a combination of a 4-byte network number and a 6-byte node number, which is the MAC address of the network card.
