Flap

Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-002317

A high-lift device attached to the trailing edge of an aircraft wing, designed to increase both lift and drag at lower airspeeds. Extending the flaps changes the wing's camber and effective surface area, allowing for slower takeoff and landing speeds. Flaps are typically deployed in degrees, such as 10 or 20 degrees, depending on the flight phase.
