Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-002426
A type of high-lift device on an aircraft wing that extends rearward and downward, increasing both the wing's surface area and its camber. This movement creates a larger, more curved wing profile, generating greater lift at lower airspeeds. Fowler flaps are common on commercial airliners, where they can increase wing area by up to 30%.
