Greenware
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-002645
Shaped clay ware that has been dried but not yet fired, so it has lost its plasticity and is fragile enough to crumble or break if handled roughly. It still holds chemically combined water in the clay minerals, which is driven off only between roughly 450 and 600 degrees Celsius during firing. Greenware is normally given a first bisque firing before glazing.
