Earthenware
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-006950
A type of porous, non-vitreous pottery that has been fired at a relatively low temperature, below 1,200 degrees Celsius. Because it is not fired to the point of vitrification, the resulting body is permeable to water unless it is sealed with a glaze. Earthenware is opaque and softer than stoneware or porcelain, making it easier to scratch.
