Intercrystalline
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-007055
Describing phenomena or features that occur between the individual crystal grains of a polycrystalline material. This region, known as the grain boundary, often exhibits different properties than the bulk of the grains themselves. Intercrystalline corrosion, for example, is a form of attack that preferentially follows these boundaries, weakening the material's structure.
