Intergranular

Describing a characteristic or process that occurs along the grain boundaries of a polycrystalline material. This includes types of corrosion, fracture, or precipitation that preferentially affect the regions between individual crystals. Intergranular fracture is a common failure mode in metals, often initiated by stress concentrators at grain boundaries.
