Pulse Amplitude Modulation, a modulation technique where the amplitude of a series of pulses is varied in proportion to the amplitude of the analog message signal. This method is used to transmit analog information over a digital channel. PAM is a foundational technique in digital communication, often preceding further modulation steps like pulse code modulation.
