Reluctor

A component in an ignition system or sensor that creates a change in a magnetic field. This change induces an electrical pulse in a pickup coil, signaling the position or speed of a rotating shaft. Reluctor wheels often have teeth or notches that interrupt the magnetic flux as they spin.
