Uninterruptible Power Supply: An electrical apparatus that provides emergency power to a load when the input power source or mains power fails. A UPS typically contains a battery that provides short-term power, allowing for proper shutdown of equipment or continued operation for a limited time. They are rated by their apparent power in volt-amperes (VA).
