Automobile exception

An exception to the Fourth Amendment's warrant requirement, allowing law enforcement officers to search a vehicle without a warrant if they have probable cause to believe it contains evidence of a crime. This exception is based on the inherent mobility of vehicles, which could allow evidence to be quickly removed from the jurisdiction. The scope of the search is limited to areas where the evidence could reasonably be found.
