Constructive discharge

A situation where an employee resigns because the employer has created a work environment so intolerable that a reasonable person would feel compelled to quit. This is treated legally as if the employer had fired the employee, allowing the employee to pursue claims for wrongful termination. The conditions must be severe and pervasive.
