Endorse

To sign one's name on the back of a negotiable instrument, such as a check or promissory note, to transfer ownership or guarantee payment. Endorsing a check allows the payee to cash it or deposit it into their account. An endorsement can be blank, special, restrictive, or qualified, each having different legal implications for transferability and liability.
