Fresh pursuit

The immediate and continuous pursuit by law enforcement officers of a suspect who has committed a crime, or is reasonably believed to have committed a crime. This doctrine allows officers to cross jurisdictional lines, such as state borders, to apprehend a fleeing suspect without obtaining a new warrant. The pursuit must begin promptly after the crime and continue without substantial interruption.
