Material

Relating to a fact, piece of evidence, or issue that is sufficiently relevant and consequential to influence the outcome of a legal matter. Information is considered material if its disclosure or existence would likely affect the judgment of a reasonable person. For example, a material breach of contract is a violation so substantial that it defeats the agreement's purpose and discharges the non-breaching party from their duties.
