MIMIC Rule

An evidentiary rule that governs the admissibility of evidence of other crimes, wrongs, or acts for purposes other than proving a person's character to show that on a particular occasion the person acted in accordance with the character. MIMIC stands for Motive, Intent, Mistake (absence of), Identity, and Common plan or scheme. This rule is codified in Federal Rule of Evidence 404(b).
