Miranda v. Arizona (1966)

A landmark decision by the United States Supreme Court that established the requirement for law enforcement officers to inform criminal suspects of their Fifth Amendment rights before custodial interrogation. The Court ruled that statements obtained from defendants without these warnings are inadmissible in court. This ruling led to the creation of the 'Miranda warnings' that police must issue.
