Olographic will

Term · Law · MLC-T-LAW-003537

A will and testament written entirely in the handwriting of the person making it, the testator. Unlike a standard will, an olographic will does not require the signatures of witnesses to be legally valid, as the handwriting itself serves as evidence of authenticity. While recognized in many jurisdictions, including about half of U.S. states, others do not accept them, and specific requirements, such as the necessity of a date, vary by location.
