Privity

A direct contractual or legal relationship between two or more parties. This connection is a prerequisite for enforcing rights or obligations against another party, particularly in contract law or property law. For example, a person not in privity of contract with a manufacturer generally cannot sue that manufacturer for breach of warranty.
