Resource Conservation and Recovery Act

A principal U.S. federal law governing the disposal of solid and hazardous waste, enacted in 1976. The Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) establishes a 'cradle-to-grave' framework for managing hazardous waste from its generation through transportation, treatment, storage, and disposal. It is administered by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and sets forth standards for waste management facilities and underground storage tanks.
