Adhesive water

Water molecules that are held tightly to the surfaces of soil particles or other solid materials through molecular attraction, primarily hydrogen bonding. This water is not readily available for plant uptake or gravitational drainage. It forms a thin film around particles and contributes to the overall moisture content of the soil.
